Kitchen Display
The Kitchen Display System (KDS) replaces printer chits. Tickets appear the moment a server confirms an order — from the floor, the QR cart, or a delivery aggregator. Tickets colour-code by age (green → amber → red), and a single tap bumps the ticket as fired and slides the next one up.

How to use it
- 1
Mount a tablet (or repurpose an old one)
The KDS is a web page — any tablet, laptop, or kitchen monitor with a browser works. Sign in with a Kitchen role, full-screen the page, and you're running. Auto-refresh is real-time over WebSocket — no manual reloading. - 2
Set per-station filters
In a multi-station kitchen, filter to only the items this station owns — Grill, Cold, Pass. Items are tagged to stations under Menu → Item → Station. The KDS tap target stays on what this cook needs to make. - 3
Watch the colour codes
Tickets start green and turn amber at 5 minutes, red at 12. The thresholds are tunable per category. Red tickets pulse so they're impossible to miss across the line. - 4
Bump and recall
Tap Bump when the ticket is fired — it slides off and the order's status flips to Ready on the Orders page, pinging a runner. If you bumped early, Recall last in the header brings it back.
Gotchas & tips
KDS is included from Starter. Free tier can still take orders but the kitchen will need to read them off the Orders page or a printer chit.
Special requests (allergies, custom modifiers) show as a red strip across the top of the ticket — train the line to clock that strip before they start prep.
